Seeking Light-er is a Conceptual Design designed to comfort people in dark environments and guide users to escape in dark spaces. The matchbox inspires it, and if you pull out the left-hand side, a screen displays dynamic abstract shapes with calming light to help reduce people’s anxiety in dark places. When the user opens the right-hand side of the product, there are many mini light bulbs and a compass inside. The compass can absorb light from the outside by blinking the bulbs to guide the user to escape from dark space. For example, when the user gets lost in a cave.

As a final design outcome, I provided a collage of concept illustrations to describe how the product would look and a mock-up of the physical space to show how the user could use the design. My project provides a possible solution to support people in dark spaces and discusses the importance of light for human mental health. In addition, I am considering this issue in other areas, such as the lighting in urban planning.
